    Why You Need To Care

Baylor is being Baylor with a joke of a schedule giving the team time to pump up the massive stats, and it’s a whole bunch of fun. The defense is still a work in progress, mainly because it doesn’t have to do much of anything, while the offense is playing at the highest of levels ranking first in the nation in yards, points and efficiency, and second in rushing. Next week is the first real teas going against West Virginia, but Texas Tech was supposed to provide a fight last week and got housed 63-35.

Kansas is trying to improve and use the experience for the future. It’s the worst Power 5 team, but it’s battling and the effort hasn’t been lost – there’s just no talent. Baylor is what Kansas is trying to be offensively, and while it’s going to take a while to come close, this will be the type of game Jayhawk fans can look at as a possible glimpse into the future – at least that’s the hope. At the very least, this is the first of a run of three home games in the next four – with Texas Tech up next and Oklahoma coming – the points will be coming.

    Why Baylor Will Win

It might take two drives to end this. Kansas hasn’t been able to crank up the offense against two bad defenses, scoring just 14 on Rutgers and 13 against Iowa State. The Jayhawks aren’t only bad, but they’re fast – they keep the chains moving a bit, but they get off the field in a relative early. Baylor is even faster with big play after big play, and against a pass defense that gives up yards in bunches, it could be 14-0 in the first five minutes. However …

    Why Kansas Will Win

Don’t be stunned if Kansas makes this a little bit fun with a big day from the passing game. Kansas doesn’t have the weapons, but the air show hasn’t been awful with 250 yards or more in three of the first four games. There aren’t any touchdowns, with just two on the year, and the yards aren’t leading to points, but they might be able to bomb a bit on a soft Baylor defense that’s still trying to come up with regular stops, coming off a game allowing 530 yards to Texas Tech through the air.

    Player Who Matters

Seth Russell is finding his groove. Baylor quarterbacks haven’t been in the Heisman mix ever since RGIII was doing his thing, but Russell has been fantastic over the last few games after giving away three picks against Lamar hitting 27-of-39 passes over the last two games averaging a whopping 17 yards per throw against Rice and bombing away – and running well – against Texas Tech. Now Russell has figured out what he’s doing, and the numbers will continue to be stronger.

    What’s Going To Happen?

Does Baylor have an 80 waiting to come out? It’ll be a game for about a quarter or so, and then the Bear machine will turn on, and it’ll be over. But it’ll be fun to watch.
