Baylor landed five commitments on Sunday, as Matt Rhule’s Bears now have 20 total commits in the 2017 recruiting class.

There is a new era underway in Waco, and the man at the helm is new Baylor head coach Matt Rhule.

It’s been less than two months since he took over the Bears, but he has them up to No. 46 in the 2017 recruiting class rankings, that’s partially because of the haul Rhule and his staff had this past weekend.

Baylor landed five commitments on Sunday, bringing its total to 20 commits in the cycle. Of those 20, 18 are rated as 3-star recruits.

The most notable of the group is 3-star prospect Bryson Jackson. The No. 66 outside linebacker in the country and No. 12 outside linebacker in the state of Texas flipped his commitment from Minnesota to Baylor despite the recent momentum the Golden Gophers have picked up under their own new head coach, P.J. Fleck.

The 3-star defensive lineman is from Mansfield, Texas and originally committed to Minnesota on Dec. 13. He stands at 6-foot-2, 195 lbs and will be asked to stand up on the line of scrimmage and make plays for the Bears off the edge, as he provides excellent backside pursuit.

In addition to Jackson, Baylor also added 3-star defensive end Cole Maxwell, 2-star offensive tackle Khalil Keith, unranked offensive tackle Henry Klinge III and unranked tight end Rob Saulin.

Maxwell, from Allen, Texas, is ranked as the No. 15 defensive end in the Lone Star State and the No. 154 defensive end in the nation. He stands at 6-foot-5, 225 lbs and has experience bumping down inside the defensive line and providing an interior rush from a 3-technique.
