Barry J. Sanders Jr. is transferring to Oklahoma State. He's finally following in his legendary dad's footsteps.
February 11, 2016It was a roundabout way of doing it, but Barry J. Sanders is finally following in his dad’s college footsteps. Kyle Fredrickson of The Oklahoman reported on Thursday that Sanders is transferring to Oklahoma State, where his dad grew into a legend in the 1980s.
Sanders was a highly-touted recruit in the class of 2012. He elected to go to Stanford, but he found himself buried on the depth chart behind the likes of Heisman runner-up Christian McCaffrey.
Ironically enough, it was McCaffrey this past season who broke Barry Sanders’ NCAA record of all-purpose yards.
“They’ve got my full commitment and I’m looking forward to being there come late June,” Sanders said.
He’ll have one season of eligibility left as a graduate transfer and will be able to play immediately.
“Just being a part of the program and being able to get a chance to officially say I’m a Poke will be something special for me personally,” Sanders said.
It will also be special for fans to be able to say the same thing.
