Bailey Hockman decommits from Georgia on Monday, posting a Twitter message with his decision.
December 14, 2015Kirby Smart’s tenure with the Georgia Bulldogs is off and running after being introduced as the new head coach in Athens last week.
Smart’s main focus right now is recruiting the players he wants moving forward in Athens, Ga., and only a couple of days after hiring Pittsburgh offensive coordinator Jim Chaney to the same position, the Bulldogs lost a commitment.
Bailey Hockman, a four-star quarterback from Powder Springs, Ga., is the No.3-ranked pro-style quarterback in the 2017 class, according to the 247Sports Composite. Hockman felt the time was right to take a step back from his commitment to the Bulldogs.
Another note to take into consideration about Hockman’s decommitment from Georgia is the fact that five-star quarterback Jacob Eason, in the 2016 class, just took an official visit to Athens and has been committed to the Bulldogs since July of 2014.
Eason is trying to decide between Georgia and its rival, the Florida Gators, but maybe Hockman’s decision is foreshadowing that situation, too.
The only thing we know is that Smart needs a big-time quarterback commit to come in soon in order to maximize his efforts early on.
