Auburn quarterback Tyler Queen has announced he will be transferring from the Tigers program.
March 21, 2017Auburn quarterback Tyler Queen has announced he will be transferring from the Tigers program.
Tyler Queen came to Auburn as a big time four-star recruit out of Kennesaw, Georgia that passed up Alabama, Georgia, and Clemson (among others) to play for the Tigers.
After two seasons and seeing the playing field in just two instances, Queen will transfer from Auburn. Having announced his decision on Twitter, he wrote.
“First off, I would like to thank the Auburn Family for all their continued support through the good times and the bad times since the first day I stepped on campus. I’ll always have a special place in my heart for the best fans in college football. I want to thank the coaches for the opportunity to be a student-athlete here at Auburn. Although I’ve had a great 2 ½ years here, I feel like I haven’t had a chance to show the player I am capable of being. After a lot of prayer and discussion with my family, I feel it is time for me to transfer and explore other opportunities. I feel this is what’s best for me and my family. I’ll never forget the memories, great friends, and teammates/brothers I’ve made along the way. Thank you for the memories Auburn, War Eagle.”
Queen’s decision is not surprising considering he would likely be fourth on the depth chart starting this fall, with Jarrett Stidham, Sean White, and Woody Barrett all ahead of him and competing for the job under center, one that Stidham is likely to win.
Wherever he lands, Queen will have three years left of eligibility and will have to sit out a season per the NCAA transfer rules.
