    5 Keys to the Schedule

    – Auburn, if you want to show that 2015 was just a fluke and the team is ready for something bigger, here’s your shot in the opener against Clemson. Arkansas State isn’t a pushover, but ULM and Alabama A&M shouldn’t be a problem in the non-conference slate.

    – Going to Georgia might not be easy, but getting Vanderbilt at home is the free space interdivisional game. There’s no Florida or Tennessee to face.

    – If you’re going to start out with some tough battles, you can’t ask for much more than five straight home games including showdowns against Texas A&M and LSU. Throw in the Clemson game and it’s hardly easy, but if the Tigers can own Jordan-Hare, they’re going to be red hot going into the second half of the season.

    – So where’s the payback for all the early home games? Making it better, there’s just one road game – at Mississippi State – until the end of October. However, three of the last four SEC games are on the road going to Ole Miss, Georgia and Alabama. Yuck.

    – WATCH OUT FOR … Vanderbilt. The Commodore defense should be excellent again. If it’s possible to catch the Tigers napping, this might be it coming off the road game at Ole Miss and before the road trip to Georgia. It’s early in November in the dog days of the season, and it could be a fight.

2017 Non-Conference Games Georgia Southern, at Clemson, Mercer, ULM
