Five-star defensive tackle Aubrey Solomon has narrowed down his recruitment as National Signing Day approaches. The Campus Insiders staff gave its predictions on where the nation’s No. 2 defensive tackle will end up.

As National Signing Day draws closer, we’ll continue to see more twists and turns on the recruiting trail. And, of course, what kind of fun would it be if Jim Harbaugh and Nick Saban weren’t involved in the recruitment of one of the country’s top recruits.

Five-star prospect Aubrey Solomon, the No. 2 defensive tackle and No. 11 overall player in the country, is trying to come to a decision on his future.

The former Michigan commit still has the Wolverines in the mix. However, earlier this month, he named Alabama his leader. But there is still an outside chance for his two other teams, Georgia and USC, to try and pull a rabbit out of their respective hats to land Solomon’s commitment.

The Campus Insiders staff got together and offered predictions for where the 5-star defensive tackle will send his National Letter of Intent.

If you had asked me a month ago, I would have said there’s no way Michigan would claw its way back into the race for Solomon, but anything is possible when Harbaugh is your head coach. And that’s exactly what has happened. The communication issues that led to Solomon’s decommitment a few months ago have been resolved, but I don’t know if it will be enough to pull the 5-star defensive tackle back into the fold in Ann Arbor.

I’m picking Alabama here. With the kind of talent the Crimson Tide has stacked up at linebacker, it could use another big body on the line to put in front of them. When Solomon does make his decision, I’m calling it will lead him to Tuscaloosa.

Go-karting is an extremely good time, and something we need more of in this country. We should be able to, if we would like, drive go-karts in cities to get to locations when we do not need to use the interstate. More recruiters should wield it like Jim Harbaugh did when spending time with Solomon’s family.

Although it is fun, and Jim Harbaugh seems like a cool coach to play for, I expect Solomon to go with Alabama. Want to make a big name for yourself with the NFL? Play defensive tackle for Jeremy Pruitt and Nick Saban at Alabama.

Go-karting FTW! Harbaugh smoothed things over with Solomon and his family enough that he’ll go back to his original commitment and head to Michigan. Sure, Alabama is making a strong push and one can’t go wrong with playing for Nick Saban, but I’m of the belief that he’ll be playing in Ann Arbor.

Who the heck doesn’t thoroughly enjoy an afternoon of go-karting? That’s exactly what Solomon did with Jim Harbaugh recently. And despite decommitting from Michigan, his mom did call his Michigan visit the “best visit ever.” We all know momma is always right. Oh and did I mention that Jim Harbaugh likes to take his team on vacations in the offseason? Yeah, they’re headed to Rome this spring, which seems like an opportunity you can’t pass up.

I’ll take Bama on this one. Michigan appears to be back in good graces after a friendly outing with Solomon and family? That Alabama defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt made a house call shortly after Harbaugh’s visit shows just how intent Nick Saban is on keeping Solomon in the South – a quick snuffing of the Michigan go-karting theatrics. Not sure how, as a defensive tackle, you can watch A’Shawn Robinson dominate during his rookie season with the Lions, and Jonathan Allen turn in arguably the best season in college football, and not want to be the next great Alabama defensive lineman.

    Glenn McGraw

This one’s shaping up to be an Alabama and Michigan battle. Given his decommitment from the Wolverines earlier in the recruiting process and his reasoning – Michigan botched communication with Solomon – you have to think Michigan ends up on the outside looking in, but this one has a strange feel to it. Jim Harbaugh has pushed his chips all in on Solomon and I think it pays off in the end. Wolverines pluck an elite defensive talent out of the South.
