    Why You Need To Care

Tulane and Army bring identical 2-7 records to Michie Stadium this weekend. The Green Wave and beleaguered head coach Curtis Johnson haven’t won a game since Oct. 3, dropping five straight, including last Saturday to Connecticut in a rain-soaked affair. The Black Knights has lost two straight, with their only wins coming over Eastern Michigan and Bucknell. Still, there remains the annual tilt with Navy on Dec. 12 and a chance to snap a nasty 13-game losing streak in the series.

    Why Tulane Will Win

When the Green Wave committed to stopping the Navy triple-option three weeks ago, it held the Mids to their lowest rushing total of the year. Tulane will similarly attack Army’s ground-and-pound system by pressing up linebackers Nico Marley and Eric Thomas and DBs Parry Nickerson and Darion Monroe to force Army into third-and-long.

    Why Army Will Win

Neither offense is playing with much consistency, which doesn’t figure to change in Week 11. But the Black Knight defense has been pretty steady in 2015, especially up front. Linebackers Andrew King and Jeremy Timpf will fly all over the field frustrate an already hamstrung Tulane offense. The Green Wave, hindered by injuries and poor execution, have averaged fewer than 10 points per game during its current five-game skid.

    Player Who Matters

Since Tulane will throw everything at the Army ground game, QB Ahmad Bradshaw must have some kind of an answer over the top. Bradshaw and A.J. Schurr have completed just 28 passes on 67 attempts, but their connections usually go for chunk yards. If the Green Wave sells out, the Knights need to find a way to get the ball in the hands of 6-4 WR Edgar Poe, who has scored on three of his seven catches.

    What’s Going To Happen?

In a matchup of similar programs, Army has the defensive edge and the offensive hook, a ground game that’ll wear down Tulane and connect on a couple of back-breaking long balls through the air. The Green Wave will be gassed in the second half, creating opportunities for FB Aaron Kemper to bust through with demoralizing runs.
