January 25, 2017Maryland prospect Anthony McFarland has delayed his commitment date. He’s down to Maryland and Miami.
Four-star running back Anthony McFarland was originally scheduled to announced his college decision on Wednesday, Jan. 25, but has decided to delay it to further evaluate his options.
“Hardest thing I ever had to deal with please understand,” McFarland tweeted on Tuesday night.
He expanded in the below message.
“After talking with my family, I have decided to push my commitment date back to have more time to think about this life changing decision. Thank you for my privacy.”
McFarland, from Hyattsville, Maryland, is considering either the home-state Maryland Terrapins or Miami Hurricanes.
He’s ranked the No. 71 overall player and No. 6 running back, and is listed just under 5-foot-9 and right at 203 pounds. McFarland has a verified 40-yard-dash time of 4.53 seconds, and boasts the power to run between the tackles.
While he’s been projected to head to Miami, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Maryland swayed him to stay closer to home, especially considering his decision to delay his commitment.
With just a week to go until National Signing Day, either the Terps or Hurricanes will know soon if they’re adding the talented back to their class.
