Anthony Jennings’ LSU Status Unknown, Absent From Spring Practice

Anthony Jennings' absence from LSU's spring practice has his future with the Tigers in doubt.

Anthony Jennings’ absence from LSU’s spring practice has his future with the Tigers in doubt.

The 2015 season held high expectations for the LSU Tigers, but it ended with a 9-3 record, a hotter seat for head coach Les Miles and a Heisman Trophy-less Leonard Fournette.

LSU will will look to move on from all of that in 2016 — while potentially leaving Anthony Jennings behind with the rest of last year’s baggage. The senior quarterback has been absent from LSU’s spring practice despite the fact that he’s been attending class.

Sophomore running back Derrius Guice has also been absent from practice, but while Miles expects Guice to return, he has no idea when Jennings will be back — if at all.

Jennings, who started 12 of the 13 games he played in 2014, saw action in only two games last season and didn’t attempt a single pass. Brandon Harris started every game for the Tigers in 2015.

No definitive statements about Jennings’ future have been made yet, but whenever there is question mark this big slapped on a player’s future it’s worthy of speculation.
