Georgia Tech lost another contributor from its 2016 football roster. Christian Philpott has decided to leave the Yellow Jackets.

Another Georgia Tech football player is on the move.

After leading rusher Marcus Marshall became one of three Yellow Jackets to announce his decision to transfer out of the program, Christian Philpott did the same.

On his personal Twitter account, Philpott announced that he will be leaving the Yellow Jackets in January. The wide receiver said he decided to leave following discussions with family and friends, but he didn’t offer a specific reason as to why he was leaving the program.

If Philpott goes the FBS route, he would have to sit out the 2017 season due to NCAA transfer bylaws. Beginning in 2018, he would have two seasons of eligibility remaining. However, he could play immediately at an FCS institution. The three-star 2015 signee took a redshirt as a true freshman because of an injury, and he caught one pass for nine yards in three games this season.

The Tallahassee, FL, product arrived to GT after being the state player of the year in his classification, and he also had three state track titles under his belt. Injuries kept him off of the practice field in 2015, leading to an eventual redshirt, while players such as Ricky Jeune, Brad Stewart and Mikell Lands-Davis took most of the receiver snaps this past fall.

Philpott follows Marshall, cornerback Dorian Walker and linebacker Emanuel Bridges as players that have left the Yellow Jackets since the end of this past season.
