    Oct. 23 at East Carolina 31, Connecticut 21 
    And You Care Because … The Pirates won, but it was a struggle. Shane Carden threw two first quarter touchdown passes and ECU looked like it was on its way to a rout, but UConn kept fighting back as Chandler Whitmer ran for a one-yard score and found Noel Thomas on a 32-yard touchdown pass to tie it. The Huskies always seemed to have an answer, coming back from a one-yard scoring run from ECU’s Breon Allen with a 88-yard Whitmer pass play to Deshon Foxx to tie it. It was all ECU in the fourth quarter with a field goal and a nine-yard Allen run to put it away. 
    What Else? East Carolina QB Shane Carden completed 38-of-64 passes for 445 yards and two touchdowns with an interception and ran nine times for 32 yards 
    – Penalties: UConn 12 for 119 yards – East Carolina 11 for 105 yards 
    – East Carolina WR Justin Hardy caught 14 passes for 186 yards and a score 
    – Connecticut QB Chandler Whitmer completed 18-of-30 passes for 303 yards and two scores with a pick, and ran seven times for 35 yards and a touchdown

    Oct. 24 at Cincinnati 34, South Florida 17 
    And You Care Because … Before getting knocked out of the game with hurt ribs, Gunner Kiel threw a 38-yard touchdown pass to Johnny Holton and ran for a 17-yard touchdown as Cincinnati got up 27-3. In for Kiel, Munchie Legaux ran for a nine-yard score, and Andrew Gantz helped the cause with two field goals. USF switched up quarterbacks in the fourth and got a Seven Bench 67-yard touchdown pass to Rodney Adams and a 38-yarder to Andre Davis, but the Bearcats stayed ahead on a seven-yard Mike Boone run. 
    What Else? Turnovers: USF 4 – Cincinnati 3 
    – Cincinnati QB Gunner Kiel completed 13-of-22 passes for 196 yards and a score, and ran five times for 20 yards and a touchdown. Munchie Legaux stepped in and completed 14-of-15 passes for 121 yards, and ran six times for six yards and a score. 
    – USF QB Steven Bench completed 9-of-14 passes for 147 yards and two touchdowns, and Mike White completed 11-of-19 passes for 92 yards and two picks 
    – Cincinnati RB Mike Boone ran 19 times for 212 yards and a touchdown, and WR Shaq Washington caught 12 passes for 163 yards

    Oct. 25 at UCF 34, Temple 14 
    And You Care Because … UCF’s D came up with four takeaways, and the O got up early with 17 first quarter points helped by the first of two Justin Holman touchdown passes and the first of two short scoring runs from William Stanback. Temple tried to must a rally, getting a three-yard Romond Deloatch catch and a blocked punt for a score in the second, but UCF scored ten unanswered points as Shawn Moffitt hit his second field goal and Stanback ran for a two-yard touchdown. 
    What Else? Third down conversions: 11-of-20 – Temple 3-of-13 
    – UCF WR Breshad Perriman caught seven passes for 146 yards and a score 
    – Temple QB P.J. Walker completed 15-of-26 passes for 111 yards and a touchdown with two interceptions, and ran nine times for six yards 
    – UCF RB William Stanback ran 27 times for 94 yards and two touchdowns 
    Game Rating: C-

    Oct. 25 Memphis 48, at SMU 10 
    And You Care Because … Memphis scored the first 21 points with one-yard touchdown runs from Jarvis Cooper and Alan Cross and a 54-yard touchdown catch from Phil Mayhue, and after SMU went on a long march ending with a one-yard Prescott Line run, the blowout was on. The Tigers scored 20 straight points with Brandon Hayes tearing off a 36-yard run and Cooper scoring from seven yards out on the way to a 41-7 lead, cruising over the last 20 minutes for the easy win. 
    What Else? Memphis QB Paxton Lynch completed 17-of-23 passes for 307 yards and a score 
    – Memphis RB Brandon Hayes ran 13 times for 101 yards and a touchdown, and Jarvis Cooper ran 16 times for 93 yards and two touchdowns 
    – Total yards: Memphis 582 – SMU 251 
    – SMU QB Garrett Krstich completed 10-of-22 passes for 59 yards and two picks, Matt Davis completed 3-of-9 passes for 55 yards, and Kolney Cassel missed his only two attempts
