Four-star cornerback Ameer Speed has signed with the Georgia Bulldogs. He made his decision on National Signing Day.
February 1, 2017The Georgia Bulldogs landed 4-star cornerback Ameer Speed on National Signing Day.
On Tuesday, 4-star cornerback Ameer Speed was sun’s out, guns out, sitting in a kiddie pool filled with all his offer letters. On Wednesday, that pool had been drained of all but one offer: UGA.
Speed committed to Kirby Smart’s Georgia Bulldogs on National Signing Day. Hailing from Jacksonville, Florida, Speed will be able to play in front of his hometown crowd once a year in The World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party.
In discussing his decision to head north to Athens, Speed told Scout that he simply fell in love with UGA’s campus and the program that Smart is constructing.
“The school, it just had everything I wanted and everything I needed to succeed and become who I want to be. It was a beautiful campus and I got a good spirit and vibe from being there.
“I felt like I was wanted there by the people, players and coaches.”
The No. 24 cornerback in the nation, Speed is a physical player who can jam opponents at the line. He can use some work coming out of his break, but when matched up man-to-man with a receiver Speed can impose his will.
Speed has signed his National Letter of Intent.
