Alabama vs. Texas A&M prediction roundtable with the Campus Insiders staff. Breaking down what will happen in Saturday’s top game, an SEC West battle between the Crimson Tide and Aggies.

Being the NFL Draft nerd that I am, I’m watching this game more for the comparison between Jonathan Allen and Myles Garrett. The Texas A&M edge rusher is battling an ankle injury, but he’ll play. This game could catapult both the Aggies and his draft stock further than we thought was possible. Allen has “first-round pick” written all over him, and if he can make Trevor Knight’s life hell in this one, it’ll speak a lot about his game.
Ultimately, I think Jalen Hurts is going to have a long day because the Crimson Tide will have a hard time setting the edge against the 6-foot-5, 262-pound monster, who’s likely going to be a top-three draft pick. I’m going with Texas A&M because of Garrett. He’s a difference maker.

Trevor Knight beat Alabama when he was leading the Oklahoma offense, but Nick Saban won’t get beaten twice by the Aggies signal-caller. A&M is one of the best teams in the country, and both its 6-0 start and the John Chavis-led defense are no fluke. The bye week has the Aggies well-rested, but Saban’s squad is rolling in all three phases. Jalen Hurts continues to play above his years, and that continues this week. A&M’s defense will make a few plays against the true freshman quarterback, but the ‘Bama offense will respond behind his arm and legs. Both teams score their share of points, but the Tide win by a couple of touchdowns.

Let’s hear it for an upset! A&M has an extremely balanced offense, and the Aggies are third in the country in red zone defense. Sure, check the numbers, they give up a lot of yards but when push comes to shove in the part of the field that matters, that’s when the Aggies shine.

Texas A&M has looked great so far this season. Kevin Sumlin has put an end to all the hot seat talk that followed him throughout the offseason, and Trevor Knight’s impact as a transfer has been immense. All that being said, I don’t see the Aggies having a shot to take out Alabama. The defense and special teams have scored in every game, and freshman quarterback Jalen Hurts doesn’t need any help scoring points on his own. Bama rolls and proves why the rest of the country is playing for second place.
