Ex-Alabama linebacker Reuben Foster was dismissed from the NFL Combine. The former Crimson Tide defender had an altercation with a hospital worker.
It was a short-lived NFL Combine experience for former Alabama linebacker Reuben Foster.
The potential Top-10 pick in April’s NFL Draft was sent home from the league’s Scouting Combine in Indianapolis for an altercation he was involved in with a hospital worker on Friday, according to ESPN.
Arguably the top inside linebacker on the board for many teams, Foster was scheduled to go through team interviews on Friday night as well as testing on Saturday. Instead, he flew home to Tuscaloosa on Saturday.
According to the report, league officials are reviewing the incident to see if anything can be done to make sure it doesn’t happen again with another potential draft pick moving forward.
According to a league source, Foster was waiting to go through his “pre-exam” when he grew impatient and began questioning a hospital worker. The hospital worker and Foster eventually were face-to-face in a heated exchange. Per AL.com, Foster said “nothing happened” in an Instagram video posted on Saturday.
Former teammate Jonathan Allen was asked about Foster on Saturday, but he said he was unaware of what transpired, simply calling the situation “surprising” and “disappointing.”
While Foster is recovering from recent rotator cuff surgery in his right shoulder and was not set to participate in drills at the Combine, this certainly will raise eyebrows about his off-the-field demeanor. He is expected to be fully recovered from his injury before the start of training camps in July.
Foster was Alabama’s leading tackler and also won the Butkus Award last season.
