Al Golden is "in line" for a Dallas Cowboys assistant coaching position, according to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport.
January 26, 2016Al Golden may be back in the coaching ranks really soon. According to a report from NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport, the Dallas Cowboys are considering hiring Golden.
“This is interesting… Hearing Al Golden, former #Miami coach, is in line for a job as a #Cowboys assistant,” Rapoport tweeted on Tuesday.
Golden was unceremoniously fired by the Miami Hurricanes during the middle of the 2015 season. After showing improvement over the course of his first three years with the Hurricanes, he regressed in the following three. Golden posted a 32-25 overall record with Miami and a sub-.500 conference mark at 17-18.
If he lands with the Cowboys, it would be his first stint in the NFL. He was the defensive coordinator for the Virginia Cavaliers from 2001-05, before being hired as the head coach of the Temple Owls.
