March 27, 2017Four-star cornerback Akeem Dent decommitted from the Miami Hurricanes on Monday morning. Dent is the top-rated corner in the 2019 class.
One of the top players in the 2019 class reopened his recruitment on Monday morning. Akeem Dent, the nation’s No. 1 cornerback prospect announced, via social media, his decommitment from the University of Miami.
“After much time in thought I will be reopening my recruitment by announcing my de-commitment from the university [sic] of Miami.”
Aside from Miami, Dent already holds offers from several top-tier programs, including Miami’s in-state rivals Florida and Florida State, Auburn and, most recently, Georgia.
There is, quite obviously, plenty of time left in Dent’s recruitment. When all is said and done, the West Palm Beach native could very well be playing college ball for the Hurricanes in Coral Gables, just a short drive down I-95 from his hometown. For now, though, his defection from the class leaves Miami with two players committed for the 2019 cycle: 5-star linebacker Diamante Howard and unranked linebacker Jesiah Pierre.
