Florida is arguably the most talent-rich pipeline in college football recruiting, and there are a few out-of-state contenders who regularly convince highly rated prospects to leave the Sunshine State.

The Tar Heels aren’t typically one of them.

However they recently dipped into the Floridian pool when 4-star running back Adarius Lemons committed to UNC, according to 247Sports. He’s the No. 20 running back and No. 253 overall player in the class of 2017.

Lemons is the sixth 4-star commit for the Tar Heels in the cycle. If he sticks with UNC through National Signing Day, Lemons will be UNC’s fourth 4-star running back signee in five years.

He has legitimate size for a halfback at 6-foot-1, 185 lbs and is one of the toughest runners you’ll see in the 2017 class.

One of the most impressive attributes is his ability to set up linebackers with his agility. He’ll show patience going laterally before he cuts up through the second level and uses his speed to leave defensive backs in his dust.

The biggest weakness Lemons has is protecting the football. Seldom does he switch the ball over to his outside hand, often exposing the football to defenders.

However, he’s young and that’s muscle memory he can work on building during his senior season. Three of the Tar Heels’ six running backs are upperclassmen, so there will be chances for Lemons to earn early reps.
