The Yellow Jackets’ triple-option offense has been inconsistent this year, but can still beat teams as long as QB Justin Thomas is behind center. Virginia Tech is officially on the Frank Beamer farewell tour. The Hokies will find a way to keep Thomas and the Jackets in check on the ground and the offense will make more plays to pull out a road win.

Both teams started off the season on fire, each jumping out to 6-1 records, but the last two weeks have resulted in losses for the Panthers and Blue Devils. Now at 6-3 apiece, Duke and Pitt will play hungry on Saturday. The Blue Devils are slightly better across the board and will eek out a win at home.

The Seminoles are coming off a tough loss to Clemson last week, but still have more talent than the Wolfpack. NC State can put up points, though, and with the exception of a bad game against Clemson, the defense has allowed only 15 points per game. Jacoby Brissett will keep it close for a while, but FSU will eventually pull away for a two-score win.
Pick: FSU
Spread: FSU -9.5

After starting the season 0-3, the Cardinals have silently put together a 5-4 record, and will look to gain bowl eligibility with a win over the Cavaliers. QB Kyle Bolin stepped in for Louisville last week and threw for 362 yards and three touchdowns. Cardinals punch their ticket to the postseason this weekend.

The Tar Heels are clicking on offense, with QB Marquise Williams throwing for 494 yards and four TDs last week against Duke. The Hurricanes will depend on the legs of running backs Joseph Yearby and Mark Walton to carry the load against a UNC defense that ranks last in rushing yards allowed. Despite that soft spot, North Carolina is one of the nation’s hottest teams, and it will remain that way against Miami.
Pick: North Carolina
Spread: North Carolina -12.5

The Fighting Irish are on a roll and eyeing a berth in the College Football Playoff. They will try to avoid a letdown as they face one of the worst teams from the ACC. Notre Dame RB C.J. Prosise might be out for the game. If so, the Irish will just plug Josh Adams in and let him run wild, as he averages 7.3 yards per carry. Notre Dame makes this one look easy.
Pick: Notre Dame
Spread: Notre Dame -27

Date: Saturday, November 14

A letdown could be easy for the Tigers after their big win against FSU, but don’t expect coach Dabo Swinney to let that happen. Deshaun Watson will have a solid day, leading No. 1 Clemson to a win and a step closer to the College Football Playoff.
