March 19, 2017Three-star offensive guard Aaron Maldonado committed to UCLA on Saturday, giving the Bruins three total commits in the 2018 recruiting class.
The base of a winning football team is the offensive line. After all, the toughest battles on the gridiron are done in the trenches, and Jim Mora’s Bruins are looking to beef up their offensive line.
On Saturday, they picked up their third commit of the cycle when 3-star offensive guard Aaron Maldonado committed to UCLA.
The 6-foot-3, 287-pound prospect from La Puente, California holds additional scholarship offers from Cal and BYU, but he has also drawn interest from Louisville, Nebraska, Notre Dame and USC.
Maldonado released a brief statement regarding his decision to commit to the Bruins.
“[I’m] proud to announce that I have verbally committed to UCLA.”
The addition of Maldonado puts the Bruins at No. 44 in the 2018 recruiting class rankings. He joins 3-star safety Jhevon Hill and 3-star wide receiver Isaiah Johnson, who have each given their pledges to UCLA within the past two weeks.
Hill, of course, was the first member of the Bruins’ 2018 class, and he told Campus Insiders he planned to turn himself into a recruiter and try to get other prospects on board.
Now he has a little bit of help with that task, as all three California natives can help get the ball rolling for UCLA on the recruiting trail.
