Class of 2018 QB Emory Jones is committed to Ohio State. But Florida remains in the mix for the Georgia gunslinger.
December 31, 2016Class of 2018 QB Emory Jones is committed to Ohio State. However, Florida continues to woo the Georgia gunslinger.
Ohio State has a commitment from Emory Jones, but that doesn’t mean that he isn’t still looking at his options.
The Class of 2018 quarterback told 247Sports that he will take an official visit to Gainesville and hear from the Florida Gators.
“I’m talking to Coach [Doug] Nussmeier and Coach [Jim] McElwain all the time,” Jones said. “They’ve just been saying they want me to get back up there. I’ve been there only one time, that’s when I got my offer. I haven’t been back up there since. They just saying they want me to get back up there. I’m going to take my official there too.”
Jones committed to Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes this past July. But the Franklin (Ga.) Heard County signal-caller remains intrigued by a Gators squad that has won back-to-back SEC East titles in McElwain’s first two seasons at the school.
The 4-star Scout recruit would be a nice piece for the Gators to add, as their offense once again left a lot to be desired in 2016. While he wouldn’t arrive until 2018, of course, McElwain needs to ensure he has very good depth at the critical position. Could the 6-foot-2, 195-pound gunslinger flip?
“They always seem to get into the SEC Championship, so that’s always good. I see their depth in the quarterback position right now is not that great, and they still seem to get into the SEC Championship, so that means they have players outside. So, that’s pretty good.”
