Four-star cornerback Jhavonte Dean has signed with the Miami Hurricanes.

The Miami Hurricanes are bringing Jhavonte Dean back home. The Homestead, Florida native, who went the JUCO route, playing for Blinn College in Texas, signed with the Hurricanes on National Signing Day.

Dean committed to Miami late on National Signing Day eve, according to 247Sports, and has sent in his signed NLI.

At one point he was committed to Alabama, but backed off his pledge on Jan. 21.

Dean was drawn to playing in front of his hometown.

“It’s my hometown,” Dean told 247Sports. “When I got on the visit I just got the feeling that they had a plan for me. It all makes sense. Now all of my family can go to every one of my games and they don’t have to fly to Utah or Arizona to see a game a year or anything like that. Plus my little sister wants to be around me so I’ll be right down the road from her, too. It’s the right choice.”

The Sun Devils and Utes were also in the running for the No. 18 overall JUCO player for 2017.

It’s a big pickup for Miami, who is in need of depth at the cornerback position following this past season’s departures.
