While it might be just another day at the office for an Alabama recruiting class – or an LSU, or a Florida – Ole Miss isn’t used to coming up with top five-caliber groups. This one might not have a Robert Nkemdiche, but OT Greg Little isn’t that far off. Throw in more four-star talents than most programs could ever dream of, along with Little and QB Shea Patterson at the top, and this is a class good enough to potentially win the SEC West title with. The pressure is on, though. Good luck being as good as that 2013 class.
The passing game. The Rebels got talent for just about everywhere, but the air show is about to get the most love starting with Patterson as the elite quarterback prospect and with some of the best receiver prospects in the country in A.J. Brown, Tre Nixon and D.J. Metcalf. Throw in TE Jacob Mathis, and this is going to be a whole bunch of fun in a few years.
OT Greg Little, 6-5, 318 – Yeah, yeah, yeah, any time you get a quarterback as promising as Patterson he’s going to be the star, but Little is the top-five overall NFL talent. The Texas native has the prototype size, athleticism, and pass protection skills to be another Laremy Tunsil if, and it’s a big If, he finds the same killer instinct. He’s the rare prospect who would’ve been a good – but developmental – draft pick right out of high school.
Receivers. Getting QB Chad Kelly back is huge, and the surprising return of TE Evan Engram is a massive plus, but losing Laquon Treadwell and Cody Core takes away two key parts to a passing game. Throw in the departures of offensive tackles Laremy Tunsil and Fahn Cooper, and losing guard Aaron Morris on the inside, and there’s plenty of offensive rebuilding to do.
