If it’s not the worst recruiting class in the ACC, it’s not far off, but that’s partly because it’s not a very big haul of talent. It’s an even split for both sides of the ball, and just about all of the recruits are good gets. There just aren’t a ton of prospects being brought in.
Offensive linemen. It’s not a massive class, but the line gets the most help for a few years from now with two decent tackles and an excellent guard prospect. Tom Kowalkoski could be the best prospect in the class – he needs a little more bulk to play on the inside – while Sean Ragan and Eddy Fish are good-sized options for the outside when they gain a little weight. Defensively, the ends aren’t superstars, but Brandon Barlow and Bryce Morais were good ACC gets.
QB Anthony Brown, 6-1, 180 – A better passing prospect than the program has had in a while – considering he also fits the running style the offense likes – he’s a potentially dangerous all-around option who’s more of a thrower than a runner. He might not be all that big, but he’s very smart and with the upside to be a leader in a few years. Northwestern, Syracuse, and Virginia Tech were among the several schools who wanted him.
Defensive tackle. The offensive line needs a little help, and more playmakers are needed for the attack, but overall this is a good, strong team returning without a slew of major gaps. However, losing Connor Wujciak on the nose is a problem, along with backup Evan Kelly. The line should be fine, but it needs an anchor.
