After a disappointing 2015 haul, Baylor and the coaching staff absolutely crushed it with this class, especially at receiver. Being able to grab top guard Patrick Hudson on NSD made the class even stronger. The defense got its share of stars, too, but at this point the program has become a factory for top pass catchers, and this recruiting class shows it.
Defensive linemen. The Bears got more than their share of nice prospect for several positions, but they went strongest on the defensive front getting 300-pound DT Bravvion Roy, athletic DE Brandon Bowen, and hybrid pass rusher Michael Johnson among the big group. On the offensive side, the receivers were the stars with four top prospects starting Tren’Davian Dickson, a smallish speedster, and …
WR Devin Duvernay, 5-11, 195 – Dickson might be the better all-around receiver, and RB Kameron Martin will be right there in terms of top producers in a few years, but Duvernay is the most intriguing prospect because of his wheels. If he’s not one of the Big 12’s most dangerous deep threats, he’ll be close. Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson, Oklahoma, Michigan and Notre Dame were just a few of the teams that wanted him – he has 18 yards-per-catch written all over him as a Bear.
The offensive line. Baylor reloads at the skill spots, and the defense should be great with a little help for the line, but the offensive front needs some big-time help losing Spencer Drango and four starters. Center Kyle Fuller is the only one returning to an interior that has to replace guard Blake Muir and Jarell Broxton.
