March 20, 2015No. 1 Wisconsin vs. No. 8 Oregon
Why Wisconsin will win: The Badgers are a headache for everyone because of their execution. They don’t make mistakes with the ball, and their defense is as suffocating as any you’ll find in March. Center Frank Kaminsky is an inside-outside stud who gives UW an asset that can’t be matched, and there is enough athleticism on the perimeter to let Wisconsin run when it wants. Oh, and Sam Dekker is a fantastic forward who is gritty and will set the tone.
Why Oregon will win: The Ducks are going to be a tough matchup for the Badgers thanks to the efficiency and athleticism of guard Joseph Young, plus the strength and balance on the Ducks’ frontline. Young can take over games, and Jordan Bell is a quality rebounder and shot blocker who has the length to give UW’s Frank Kaminsky fits. Young will have to be the catalyst, and Oregon will have to knock down the open threes to make the Badgers uncomfortable.
What will happen: Young is going to get his points, but this game will be all about Wisconsin dictating the tempo and wearing down the Ducks with Kaminsky inside. Oregon will put up a fight for 30 minutes, but the discipline of UW will help Bo Ryan’s team pull away late.
Prediction:Wisconsin 74, Oregon 65
