    – Explanation of the College Football Season Rankings and the components

    8. Ole Miss Rebels, SEC

The Rebels were very, very, very close to throwing the season into a tailspin. They were the only ones able to crack the Alabama code, but they crumbled a few weeks later at Florida and came up with a stunning loss to Memphis that looks a lot better now than it did at the time. But if they could’ve held on in the wild 53-52 loss to Arkansas they would’ve ended up playing for the SEC championship. Even so, with a dominant Sugar Bowl win over Oklahoma State, they came up with their first ten-win season since 2003.

Wins: 10 – UT Martin, Fresno State, at Alabama, Vanderbilt, New Mexico State, Texas A&M, at Auburn, LSU, at Mississippi State, Oklahoma State (Sugar Bowl)

Losses: 3 – at Florida, at Memphis, Arkansas

Quality Wins: 6 – at Alabama, Texas A&M, at Auburn, LSU, at Mississippi State, Oklahoma State (Sugar Bowl)

Elite Wins: 2.5 – at Alabama, Oklahoma State (Sugar Bowl)

Bad Wins: 3 – UT Martin, Fresno State, New Mexico State

    Elite Losses: None
